I am writing today because I do also have genetic hemochromatosis. I am 44 and we found it about 6 years ago. 3 of my 4 children have been tested for it. My 22 year old has refused to go do the blood work. Today we were talking and I found this website. I am concerned that he may be affected by this disease/disorder. He has no income and has no medical coverage but needs to be tested. Is there a way to get him tested that doesn’t cost anything or an organization that would pay for it or even help pay for it? Thank you, Marcia
Hi Marica
If you and your other children have been gene tested and have the Hemochromatosis gene, then your 22 year old son will almost certainly have the gene as well. The thing that he needs to know is what his ferritin levels are. Between 50-300 are considered to be in the safe range with approx 100 as normal. A simple blood test is not as expensive as a gene test and it will give him the answer required if he needs venesections (bleeding) to be done to reduce a high iron level. Perhaps he could even donate blood as a way of reducing his iron levels. If the symptoms that appear on the website start to surface he needs to act quickly. By the age of 36 he could find himself in organ danger if he does nothing. Once the damage is done to the vital organs they can not be repaired. I am not sure what country you are in so it is hard for me to recomend a organisation who can help. Most countries have a society for patients that could be of help. If the procedures are his fear there are ways to combat the effects by preparing yourself beforehand. My book lists some suggestions. There may be a sneeky way around the paying for a test. It’s not nice but could be possible. What he can do is go to your local health clinic for an aids test. That is free in all countries. He could mention while there that he is at risk of high iron and can this be tested for, as he wishes to donate blood but does not wish to contaminate the general population.

Thank you, so very much. I received the e-books. I will go back and repurchase them as soon as I verify that PayPal refunded my money. I think I can verify that in a matter of minutes.
Again, thank you. The books look like they will be very helpful for my friend. I really appreciate it.

Hello. I was diagnosed with hemochromotosis in July. My story is a very fascinating one: how I came to ask to be tested, the amazing results, and finally, the diagnosis of hemochromotosis of my 19-year-old adopted son.
I would like to participate, Michael.
I truly believe that I was meant to take this journey to save my son. Had he been adopted by anyone else, they would not have caught this disease until damage had begun. Now he can be monitored throughout his life, and hopefully reach his full span of years.
I’m happy to find this forum. I’ve been looking for something like this.
Hi everyone who is reading…I was diagnosis with Hemochromatosis in 2007 after I found out my sister, and brother had the hereitary disease.
I’m a nurse, and new something had to be wrong because of my health worsening the past year before diagnosis. It has been such a long road and I get so frustrated, but try to be positive to not get me down…yes I know depression sets in really easy.
My Ferritin started at 1075, got it down to 196, then back up to 875 after 5 long years of getting bled. My saturation is at this time 94%…WOW way to high…cholesterol way to high…heart vessels cleared by Cardiologists 2 years ago. Now, I have severe joint pain, weakness with insomina, and my immune sysytem is so beat down, and with major problems with my stomach…its like a never ending story.I try very hard to avoid beef, but I just crave it. So, diet is very hard for me. I’m 10 lbs over weight then normal. So,to improve my health, I’ve changed doctors because he wasn’t really helping me, then started seeing a doctor for pain managment.
Work on the other hand, I’m on FLMA to prevent from getting fired, so many missed days at work. I love my work helping others, will continue tell they say no more.
The biggest thing I want everyone to know is DO NOT GIVE UP! My sister did and lost her 1.5 years ago by just taking a fall when walking her dogs, and hit her liver, then died a week later, went in multi-organ shut down.
Everyone has their story, but what I can teach you is keep going. We have one life to live..live it fully with the exception to take care of yourself.

An 82 year old professional and a 71 year old professional in Tampa, Florida found and confirmed GALVANIZED PIPE in domestic water for homes, hotels, motels, cruise lines, ships, submarines, bases and all buildings since 1940 through 2004 is killing 1 of every 200 people along with the bacteria colonies on faucet aerator or shower heads in schools or other buildings shut down for weeks if not months. Messages sent to President, DOH, Hospitals, VA Hospitals all to no avail as no one will release the information. Check your own piping with a magnet to see if it is GALVANIZED STEEL then get it out of there with PVC or CPVC piping quickly. Eat NO FOOD OR DRINKS on airlines as some are made with high levels of rust/iron. Ralph Charles Whitley, Sr. Backflow.Prevention@verizon.net
